Does Nonnanest need WiFi?

How is Nonnanest different from wearable monitors?

What does Nonnanest actually measure?

Surface skin temperature, from up to four feet away, with no wearable and nothing touching your baby. It also reads the room temperature, because the room affects the skin. Both show on the display.

How accurate is the skin temperature reading?

We test every reading against a NIST-traceable blackbody calibration source, the same kind of reference used to check professional and medical infrared instruments. Nonnanest is calibrated to work within recommended ambient temperatures of 69–75°F and between 3 and 4 feet from baby, at a safe distance. While it works closer than 3 feet, pediatric guidance and our own guidance is to always maintain a 3-foot distance from baby.

Why is skin temperature different from what a thermometer reads?

Skin runs cooler than the inside of the body, and how much cooler depends on the room. That's normal, and it's true of every contactless thermometer, including the one at your pediatrician's office. What matters for you isn't the exact gap. It's that skin temp goes up when your baby warms up. That's the signal Nonnanest is built to catch.

Why doesn't the number match my thermometer?

Because they're measuring different things. Your thermometer reads inside. Nonnanest reads the surface. Neither one is wrong. If Nonnanest shows something elevated, that's your cue to reach for the thermometer, not a replacement for it.

What do I do if the reading looks high?

Check your baby with a thermometer. Nonnanest is built to get your attention, not to answer the question. And if anything concerns you, call your pediatrician. That part never changes.
